In the third part of our video series “We Design @ SQ1” we explore Phase 2 of our Design and Development process, “Prototype”.

Following up on the testing of your experimental prototype, we will analyze what worked, what didn’t work and what we need to improve or modify before our next round of prototyping. This next batch of prototypes will be fit/form/function prototypes which should closely resemble the final product and will use production material and processes (whenever feasible) to manufacture and test in addition to rapid technologies.

At this stage, you should begin to take your product out of the lab environment and into the hands of your intended users. Real world feedback is critical at this point to avoid costly design changes down the line once production tooling is made and materials are secured.

After all the modifications and improvements are incorporated into the design we can write up detailed design verification protocols. These important documents will be used to guide and document design verification testing used to show compliance of the final product to your established design inputs (located in your PRS).

In the next part we will go over the Pilot Production process including verification testing, production tooling and any outside safety and performance testing your product needs before it’s ready for market.

We hope you will check out the other videos in our “We Design @ SQ1” video series linked below. While you are visiting our YouTube channel, please remember to like, share and subscribe in addition to watching our other content.
